  • I would suggest that you continue to apply updates to the current macOS version that you are running on the Mac.
  • I seriously doubt Apple will add support for earlier models.
  • There is very little chance that waiting 6 months, or more/less, will make any difference.
  • The installation will fail so it is not worth trying.
  • Your Mac also needs at least 4GB of memory and 12.5GB of available storage space, or up to 18.5GB of storage space when upgrading from OS X Yosemite or earlier.
