
This MacBook Pro uses a proprietary storage drive connector, and is therefore not compatible with common M.2 drives without the use of an adapter. This is pretty much true for all software providers. Use this guide to upgrade or replace the solid-state drive in a MacBook Pro 13 Late 2012. As such, they will also start removing support for older operating systems with newer Office releases.

Microsoft will continue to update the Office Suite.but I understand they are working on one. If that notebook will be a M1 model, just be aware that Microsoft (as far as I know currently) does not have a native version of Microsoft Office that will run on it. It just has to be a Late 2013 or newer model. You can go with either a new model or a refurbished one.
